Aiming for the world’s first captive breeding of a devil fish (Mobula mobular)!

Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium has introduced a female devil fish (Mobula mobular) to the Kuroshio Sea Tank.

Devil fish
Scientific name: Mobula mobular

This species of Mobula reaches 3 meters in width. It has a pair of cephalic fins on its head, which are usually curved and look like two horns. It looks similar to the smoothtail devil ray, however, the devil fish can be distinguished by the spine at the end of its tail, and spiracles  above the base of its pectoral fins.
